This project is an office space for a financial company in Ningbo located in Hefeng Plaza, with a total area of about 650 square meters, of which about 340 square meters is a double-storey through-height space. In addition to basic daily office functions, the office also provides other facilities, including a café, kitchen, dining area, and public open area, to meet the diverse working and living needs of team members.
The project is located in the core area of Sanjiangkou, the most prosperous area in downtown Ningbo, with the Yongjiang River riverfront landscape to the north. The office enjoys panoramic city views and southwest-facing natural light. The client wanted independent offices with unobstructed views, so we placed two independent offices in the southwest corner, two in the north corner, and the rest at the end of the south elevation. The large conference room is also located in the north corner of the second floor. This arrangement gives the individual offices and conference rooms excellent views without overly blocking the sunlight from the southwest.
The largest entrance hall maximizes the design theme of "nature" and "flow". A natural stretching wood grain wall line wraps around this entrance hall, extending from the second floor to the second. A lounge area with luxurious furniture and artificial turf provides a space for staff and clients to relax and interact.
The highlight of the project is the public space in the middle of the office facing the landscape, which also serves as a reception and meeting space. The wave-like wooden installation in this high-ceilinged space connects the reception, the dining bar, the public staircase, the second floor slab, and the surrounding individual meeting rooms, creating a flowing and contemporary atmosphere while integrating the spatial form.
The open work area with 16 work units is arranged on the north side by the windows, adjacent to the conference rooms on the first and second floors. This layout gives it soft light and open views while visually interacting with the central area.
The open dining area is placed at the back of the reception area in the central through-height space and at the corner of the interior office and meeting space on the southeast side to meet the needs of the north and south office areas while organizing the interior flow in an orderly manner. The other two open meeting rooms are placed to the south to enjoy sufficient sunlight. The dining area provides a long, low dining table and the necessary kitchen appliances, including a coffee maker, dishwasher and refrigerator. The low table height minimizes obstruction to the view from the windows and maximizes the natural light that fills the space. Different seating areas for tables and chairs are available to meet the needs of small groups of staff for meetings, networking and dining.
The mezzanine has a conference room, gym and machine room. The meeting room can seat 30 people at a large conference table and is designed with ceiling height appropriate lighting overhead. Sunlight comes in through the 8.4-meter-wide façade windows, providing plenty of natural light. The breakout area provides a rare space for employees to relax in between meetings.
The design follows design elements from the firm's past office projects that are visually striking and functional. The fluid, organic design visual elements unify the office design language and create a powerful brand identity.
